What is a junk lead?
A junk lead is an inquiry with no real buyer behind it: a bot, a fake or wrong phone number, someone who submitted a form by accident. It's different from a cold lead, which is real but early in the search. Junk is cut with ad and form settings; a cold lead gets a follow-up plan.
Junk or not
- Junk: the number doesn't exist, several inquiries from one number, «I never filled out a form».
- Low intent: «I just wanted the price», no budget. Fixed with the offer and the ad.
- Not junk: «doesn't answer» after one attempt. That's about response speed and the follow-up plan.
How to handle it
Trace the source by campaign, placement and form type, not across all leads on average. After the cleanup you'll get fewer inquiries and the same qualified leads. More: junk leads: how to clean up your ads.
